Our Values
The Episcopal Church embraces a legacy of inclusion and respect, seeking to tell and lead lives that express God’s love for every human being. People of all genders and sexual orientation serve as bishops, priests, deacons and lay leadership (not ordained people) in our church. Laypeople and clergy work together in leadership of the church.
The Bible is our foundation, understood through our readings, tradition and reason, containing all things necessary for salvation. Our worship is based on and filled with Scripture from beginning to end. The guide of our worship service is the Book of Common Prayer, which contains the structure of the service, as well as a wealth of learning for participants and the congregation. Approximately 70% of the Book of Common Prayer comes from the Bible.
Episcopalians believe that God’s table is open to all. Receiving Sacraments at Holy Communion is open to all baptized Christians.
